Steinhatchee Falls is one of the highlights of the Steinhatchee Area. It’s located on public lands, rather than a state park or national forest, which means an authentic wilderness experience.

Hiking in Steinhatchee Falls

Hiking at Steinhatchee Falls is one of the most popular things to do in the area. There are two trails available to hike on the tract. More ambitious hikers can do the 6-mile Steinhatchee Trail, which ends at the Tennille Trailhead, or opt for the shorter 1-mile Steinhatchee Loop, to end back at the parking lot. Both offer beautiful, scenic views and allow hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

Waterfalls at Steinhatchee Falls

Just to manage expectations – despite the name, Steinhatchee Falls boasts a very modest waterfall. It’s beautiful, but small, so know what to expect!

The waterfall is actually an old river crossing, which was used during the Second Seminole War by settlers and members of the military. It’s small but beautiful, and certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Water Activities at Steinhatchee Falls

Visitors will love swimming and relaxing in the Falls to cool off after a long day of hiking. There’s even a rope swing, for any daredevils!

Wildlife at Steinhatchee Falls

This is a largely untouched area, which means an abundance of local wildlife. Hikers may spot gopher tortoise, swallow-tailed kite, Swainson’s warbler, and wading birds, according to the trailhead sign. Make sure to keep an eye out for all the rich local wildlife.

There are new owners who are redoing every thing. Beautiful walking trails and wildlife on the Steinhatchee River. 10 minutes to the Gulf of Mexico. Should be renovated completely for next years scallop season.

I can’t say enough praise for this wonderful place and most especially, the good lady who runs it. I’m beyond grateful to have been able to come here during a cold, rainy spell and been able to have a shelter for me, my tent and my dog.

For what it is it is nice. Definitely not a high end place and for RVs only it appears. Not really near much other than a gas station. A beach is 28 miles and the next town kind of thing is 10. There is a dinner across the street a allot of wilderness.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! This campground is super quiet, the people that are there are so nice, it’s a small town basically, least by the campground. There’s a gas station right at the corner, which carries most essentials. Kids may not enjoy this place, simply because not alot of people are there, but if your looking for quiet.. this is it

A great place to camp, to check out a great town. Located is this old Florida fishing town . Drop off the camper and go explore the campground, and everything the town has to offer. Some great local dining, fishing, boating. Most places close on the early in this laid back little town though.
